Fueling the Fight

Food and nutrition services colleague serves up compassion during the pandemic, distributing meals for Texas frontline heroes to take home to their families.

At our core, HCA Healthcare’s greatest strength is our people. And, during unprecedented times, the heart of each team member shines through. Dietary services supervisor Aleshia Cooper – who recently celebrated her 20-year anniversary with HCA Healthcare affiliate The Woman's Hospital of Texas – took caring like family to a whole new level.

On top of the healthy meals that Aleshia's food and nutrition team serves daily to colleagues, patients and visitors, her team also prepared 500 sack lunches every day for our colleagues to take home to their children.

“Giving our colleagues one less thing to worry about when they get home after a 12-hour shift is a wonderful feeling. Being able to help them makes me happy and I know they are appreciative,” says Aleshia. “This hospital team is my family, and we all care for each other like family. The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, in particular, is a very happy place and I love it here. It’s not a job to me.”
